Here are some of the changes made to the 2024 Diamond League Meeting series that make it more interesting for fans.

In less than three months, the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season will kick off with world-class athletes including Faith Kipyegon, Shericka Jackson, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Ferdinand Omanyala out to showcase their skills and some hoping to defend their titles.

The 15th edition of track and field's premier one-day global series will pit the world's best athletes against each other at the highest level every single week as they warm up for the Olympic Games in Paris in August.

As well as familiar faces and locations, the series will also see some changes in 2024, with new cities, a bumper calendar, and a new host for the final.

One of the biggest changes this season is that fans will not have to wait as long for the outdoor season to get underway. The first leg of the Diamond League series will kick off on April 20 in Xiamen, earlier than in any season since the series began in 2010.

Xiamen will be the first of two meetings in China, and the start of a rapid world tour in the opening weeks of the season. In May, the series will touch down on four different continents, with meetings in Qatar, Morocco, the USA, and Norway.

The second meeting of the season is scheduled to take place in Suzhou, which will host the Wanda Diamond League for the very first time on April 27.

The Chinese city is one of two new locations in this season's calendar, with the Meeting International Mohammed VI also moving from Rabat to Marrakech for one year due to stadium renovations in the Moroccan capital.

The Pietro Mennea Golden Gala, which moved to Florence in 2023, will return to its usual location at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on August 30.
