Christian Coleman says he and Sha’Carri Richardson are 'just about finding our balance' as they train and grow together on and off the track.

Christian Coleman has opened up about how he manages to live and train together with his girlfriend, Sha’Carri Richardson.

Christian Coleman started working with Sha’Carri Richardson’s coach, Dennis Mitchell around last July, after missing individual tickets to the Paris Olympic Games.

He finished outside the podium bracket in the 100m and 200m and was selected for the men’s 4x100m relay team that was sadly disqualified due to faulty baton exchanges.

Christian Coleman revealed that they always act as teammates during training sessions and their training mates also just see them as that.

Despite having achieved a lot on the track, there is no superior or inferior athletes in their camps and they always feed off each other.

Christian Coleman added that they always try hard to maintain a balance between their lives at the training camp and beyond that.

“We are just about finding our way and finding our balance, as you said, we are in the same training group and we don’t look at it as any different,” Christian Coleman revealed at the Seiko Grand Prix pre-race press conference.

“Everybody in our training group kind of just treats us as teammates, and we just support each other and try to feed off each other, the same way we would do with everyone in our group.

“We just work hard and try to find our balance, mentally and spiritually and from there, everything takes care of itself.”

Speaking ahead of the men’s 100m at the Seiko Grand Prix, Christian Coleman revealed that he just wants to execute a good race.

He also hopes to make a return to Tokyo for the World Championships in September as he lauded their world class stadium.

“First of all, it’s a beautiful stadium and our first time walking into it and taking it all in before focusing on the track,” he added.

“For me, I like to do a lot of mental visualisation and manifesting, and I feel like tomorrow’s race will go a long way.”

Christian Coleman has had a shaky start to his season and is yet to win a 100m race but the 2019 world champion remains unfazed.

Christian Coleman finished third in the men’s 100m at the Tom Jones Memorial before finishing fourth and fifth at the Diamond League Meetings in Xiamen and Shanghai respectively.
