The Jamaican who boasts of two Olympic titles was initially slated to launch her season on April 6th has pulled out of the 2nd Diamond League meeting.

Two-time 200m world champion Shericka Jackson of Jamaica has for the second time this month, pulled out her scheduled season opener. Just days after pulling out of the Miramar Invitational, Jackson has also announced that she will miss the second Diamond League leg in Shanghai/Suzhou, China.

The happenings have left fans confused with speculations shooting through the roof over what could be happening behind the scenes.

A 200m duel between the Jamaican and radioactive American star Sha’Carri Richardson is one of the most anticipated races on the planet this year.

The two were penciled to give fans a dress rehearsal of the Olympics final in the Shanghai/Suzhou leg but that has been dashed leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of fans.

Organizers of the 2nd Diamond League meeting have promptly removed Jackson’s name from entry list leaving Sha’Carri to battle it out with the likes of compatriot Terry Twanisha, Daryll Neita of Great Britain and Mujinga Kambudji of Switzerland.

But with the Jamaican’s subdued start to the year 2024 the thrill of a possible explosion in Paris is fast dissipating.

Jackson took gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games in the 4x100m relay, in addition to her silver in the 2016 4x400m relay, and three bronze medals. She does not have any Olympic medals in the 200m. She is the two-time world champion at 200m, and also won the Diamond League at that distance for the past two years
