Super Eagles captain Troost Ekong was full of praise for his former teammate Harry Kane.

In an exclusive chat with Sky Italia, former Udinese defender and Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on his early days at Tottenham alongside none other than Harry Kane. 

Troost-Ekong was at Tottenham from 2010 to 2013, alongside Kane in the youth team, before moving to Groningen in the Netherlands. 

The Making of a Star: Kane's Early Days

The defender shared insights into Kane's formative years at Tottenham, shedding light on the striker's unwavering commitment to excellence. "We started together 14 years ago and after training, he always stayed on the pitch to try something else: shots, penalties, worked with the goalkeepers," he recalled, per Football Italia

Kane would go on to become Tottenham's and England’s highest all-time goalscorer.

A Testament to Hard Work and Ambition

Kane's trajectory from a hopeful youth player to one of football's elite strikers embodies the essence of sportsmanship and dedication. The former teammate's account highlights the striker's methodical approach to improvement, emphasising his willingness to put in the additional work where others might call it a day. 

"He always wanted to grow and this ultimately led him to reach the top of the top. He is an example of the desire to improve and work harder."
