Manchester City's Jack Grealish is at a crossroads as he is unwanted by the club but the asking price is too much for those interested in his services.

Napoli, already showing significant ambition in the transfer market, are reportedly interested in Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish, according to the English media.

City are said to be willing to accept a considerable loss on the player, who was signed in the summer of 2021 for £100 million, and would reportedly accept an offer of around £45 million (almost €53 million).

There is significant disappointment with Grealish's performance at the Etihad, and Pep Guardiola has reportedly decided to move him on. This became apparent during the latter stages of the Premier League season when Grealish was frequently benched and subsequently left out of the squad for the current Club World Cup in the USA.

What is Napoli's Plan B?

This price, however, is still considered too high for Napoli, who would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, and not a mandatory one at that. The Serie A champions have already acquired one player from Manchester City this season - Kevin de Bruyne, who arrived at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on a free transfer.

Napoli also remain interested in Alejandro Garnacho, who is seen as a younger and more promising prospect than Grealish, whose performances have paled in comparison to his first season with City.

The situation leaves Grealish in a difficult position as he has to find a solution quickly while City hold out for a fee in a bid to recoup part of their club record fee that they paid for him.
