Godfrey Oduor, reacting to Harambee Starlets' impressive display over Burundi, pointed out that the ladies gave their all.

Oduor lauded Harambee Starlets for their talent, revealing that they will build on that win to ensure they silence their rivals.

He admitted that the win is a confidence booster for Harambee Starlets, insisting that they can only get better going forward.

“We are satisfied, and we’ve seen that we have able players. We want to congratulate them and encourage them to work hard in the upcoming matches so we can have better results,” Godfrey Oduor revealed.

Harambee Starlets will now face Uganda on Tuesday evening, and Godfrey Oduor has disclosed what the team needs to do to be unstoppable.

The former Harambee Starlets coach explained that they need to analyse the fitness of the players who were in the first game for all 90 minutes and help them bounce back into shape ahead of the second encounter.

“For now, we want to go and see how our players are doing in terms of fitness, because some have played for 90 minutes and they are in pain, so we have to find remedies for that before we start training for the upcoming match. Right now, we are focusing on our match against Uganda,” he added.

After Uganda, Harambee Starlets are scheduled to face South Sudan on Thursday, June 19, and then the hosts, Tanzania, on Saturday, June 21, in their remaining group fixtures.

Tanzania is the most successful team in CECAFA Women’s Championship history with two titles, while Kenya, Uganda, and Zanzibar have each claimed the trophy once.

The CECAFA tourney will also be used as a build-up for Harambee Starlets ahead of their final round of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
