Nzoia Sugar FC ends winless streak with a victory while Kariobangi Sharks draw against Muhoroni in closely contested matches.

Nzoia Sugar FC finally ended a winless streak that had stretched back to December 21st in the FKF Premier League, a sequence spanning four games.

The breakthrough came against a frustrated Bidco United, who could not find an equalizer in a 2-1 win despite the cracks appearing in the Sugar Millers' defense.

Bidco should have claimed the lead in the third minute when a mistake in defence from  Nzoia's Haki Victor  allowed Samuel Ndung'u to run in on goal, but Fred Munyendo directed  the shot away for a corner kick.

The hosts  were made to pay for their early misses when Nzoia claimed the lead in the 12th minute: a slick passing move ended with Ian Simiyu tucking home a shot to put the visitors ahead.

In the 18th minutes the hosts threatened again, with Chris Opondo teeing up Douglas Mokaya  to shoot from just inside the penalty, but the attacker pulled his effort narrowly wide of Munyendo ’s right-hand post.

Bidco deservedly hit back four minutes later to level the game courtesy of Douglas Mokaya whose free-kick went into the back of the net.

The score remained tied up to the halftime interval, with the teams closing up in defense for the final minutes of the first stanza.

Nzoia then surged forward in numbers after  the restart and they took the lead Nzoia from Daniel Kakai’s freekick which was directed into the back of net by Titus Lusweti.

Bidco did not sit back and defend after the restart with Peter Nzuki forcing keeper Munyendo  into a save at the near-post and at the other end, Odiwour produced a diving save to deny Lusweti.

Nzoia coach then introduced attack-minded duo Jacob Onyango and Elisha Wekesa as the visitors looked to extend their lead.

Wekesa should have made it 3-1 to Nzoia in the closing stages of the game after being sent through on goal, but somehow he missed the target from close range.

Both teams launched late attacks in search of more goals, but they could not find the back of the net and ultimately, Nzoia ran out 2-1 winners over Bidco on the day.

Muhoroni Youth 1-2 Kariobangi Sharks

Muhoroni pressed the Sharks up high looking to force the visitors into making mistakes in their own-half and the hosts were unlucky not to score when Denis Owino's volleyed effort went over crossbar with goalkeeper Bernard Jairo well-beaten.

Sharks grew into the match gradually and they broke the deadlock through Vincent Wasambo. The youngster received a pass from Kibiwott before beating the goalkeeper  at the near-post with a low shot to make it 1-0 to Sharks.

The hosts responded by surging forward with Reegan Ochieng with four minutes remaining until the halftime break.

Green Jackson almost gave Muhoroni the five minutes into the second half, but his stunning effort from just outside the box went inches wide.

Jackson was in the thick of the action yet again in the 78th minute with another long-range effort, but this time his shot rattled the woodwork of the Sharks’ goal.

Muhoroni then enjoyed a spell of pressure at the other end, though they lacked the necessary precision in attack to truly cut open  Sharks's defence, with Okach not called into action nearly as much as in the opening quarter of the game.

Second-half subsitute Keith Imbali then became Sharks's hero in the 82nd minute when he beat Potter Okatch at the near-post with a header to seal Sharks 2-1 victory over Muhoroni with Patrick Ngunyi providing the assist.
