Ruiru Golf Club's Lady Captain's Swing will tee off this weekend with over 250 players and a unique four-club format.

Over 250 golfers are set to showcase their prowess in the Lady Captain’s Swing, set to be held at the picturesque par-73 Ruiru Golf Course this weekend.

The tournament has attracted golfers from Nairobi and beyond, and they will be looking to brave the chilly weather and make a mark on the greens.

The tournament, powered by 2Shii Mitumba Distributors, will tee off at 6:30 am for the morning round, with the afternoon session scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.

Tournament to Take A Different Approach

The organisers of the event added that this year's edition will challenge golfers to compete using only four clubs instead of the standard 14. This will push them to get creative and rethink their strategy on the course.

"It’s about creativity, strategy, and skill. Limiting one’s clubs challenges the shot-making ability and brings out the fun in the game," said Ruiru Sports Club Lady Captain Rodah Mukami.

“This competition is important for two reasons: Number one, it plays a pivotal role in fostering golfing action within this region, and secondly, it is crucial to position our club as a premier golfing destination. I can assure the players that the course is in pristine condition and the greens are well-kept.”

On top of that, Mukami is also looking beyond this weekend’s tournament, aiming to secure corporate sponsorships, bring in top-tier competitions, and elevate Ruiru as a prime venue for prestigious events like the Kenya Open.

She added that they were doing the best they could to ensure they were playing their role in advancing the growth of the sport and intended to host as many corporate events as possible to make that happen.

“Additionally, we want to be one of the best courses in the country, where in the future, we can host events such as the Kenya Open,” she said.

The day will wrap up with a stylish red-and-white-themed prize-giving ceremony, where winners across different categories will be celebrated, a fitting finale to an exciting and fun-filled golf event.
