Attention will shift to Kakamega and Kisii for the thrills and spills of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship and NCBA Series this weekend.
Kakamega will be the place to be as the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series continues this weekend at the Kakamega Sports Club.
The event, set to take place from June 27-29, has a competitive field of 66 elite amateur players promising a thrilling weekend of golf.
Elvis Muigua is set to headline the list of participants, with defending champion and current series leader John Lejirma missing out of this year’s event while homegrown talents in Cedric Kanzolo and Julius Oketch will be vying for top honours on familiar ground.
Ebill Omollo, Isaac Makokha, and Naom Wafula will also be among the top contenders on the roster to grace the fairways. Lejirma leads the ranking with 1,555 points, followed by Michael Karanga (1,063) and Muigua, who has 766.
What is At Stake for the Competing Players?

All participants will compete in the first two rounds, after which the top 33 players, including ties, will advance to the final round. This year’s tournament boasts a total prize purse of Ksh500,000, with the overall winner set to walk away with Ksh115,000.

Meanwhile, the NCBA Golf Series will continue this Saturday at the Kisii Golf Club where more golfers will be eyeing slots to the grand finale set for November.
Over 100 golfers are expected to grace the course to wrap up a busy month which has seen a qualifier event held every weekend, including a regional double header at Karen Country Club, and Uganda Golf Club two weeks ago.

Last weekend, a field of 270 golfers took to the course at the Ruiru Sports Club for the 15th qualifying leg of the NCBA Golf Series, with six players booking their slots to the grand finale as Kevin Metto emerged overall winner.
