Okello has explained why Kenya Police have recently soared up the league following a tumultuous start to the season.

Kenya Police FC striker Tito Okello has explained why the side, which has created a reputation for being spendthrifts, experienced a slow start to the season before starting to pick up midway through it.

Okello, a former Gor Mahia striker, has now scored six goals for the season and is currently the side’s top marksman, three now behind leading scorer Benson Omala, with his goals crucial to helping the Law Enforcers continue their surge up the table.

Police have had a troubled camp this season, having already parted ways with two coaches due to contrasting problems and then finding themselves well off their target of challenging for their maiden league title after impressingly finishing last season just six points off the top.

Speaking to Pulse Sports in a recent chat, Okello revealed the reason he thinks it took a while for the team to start registering consistent wins.

“We experienced a slow start because we had a lot of new players and I also just joined them,” Okelo said.

“I think we were trying to get to know each other more but now we are playing as a unit because we have gotten to understand each other.

“You can now see there is lot of teamwork that is why we are going for victory against every team that comes our way now.”

Okello was one of four mega signings for the season by Francis Baraza back in July. The club also acquired the services of Kenneth Muguna, Tyson Otieno and South Sudanese defender Rashid Toha.

They have further strengthened their squad this January by bringing back Duncan Otieno and Samwuel Onyango in their quest to continue trying to finish in the best position the can under Salim Babu.

Meanwhile, Okello has revealed he aims to finish the league as top scorer and believes his goals could put Police in a respectable position by the end of the year.

“My target is to score more goals in order to help put the team in a better position.

“My target is to be among the top scorers and I know I can  make it. I just have a few goals to be up there and I really hope that I will manage to get there (as leading goalscorer).”

Police will be hoping to show Gor Mahia who the real Sirkal is when they play them on Saturday.
