Chelsea are reportedly keen to hijack Manchester United’s deal of a key forward from a Premier League rival.

Amidst their struggles in the Premier League which has seen their season end in ruins, Manchester United could be about to lose out on one of their targets to a rival.

United are in the market for a striker as they look to bolster their attacking ranks with Ipswich forward Liam Delap one of those in their sights with reports claiming he had talks with the club on Monday.

However, United are not assured of signing the forward as Chelsea appear ready to hijack the deal with the forward having a special relationship with coach Enzo Maresca.

Delap Has a Lower Release Clause

Maresca worked with Delap at the Manchester City academy and knows how to utilise his talents which could see him persuade the striker to move to Stamford Bridge over a transfer to Old Trafford.

Delap has a £30 million relegation release clause that kicked in when Ipswich went down and the attractive price has made him a hot prospect for Premier League teams with Newcastle United also interested.

The 21-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 36 matches and he is seen as a player that can blossom into a great striker in years to come.
