Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala has given reasons why he is a big supporter of Manchester United but his favourite player plays for Arsenal

Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala has revealed that he is a supporter of English Premier League side Manchester United but likes the style of play of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus.

Omala says while he follows the Red Devils, there is more in the skillset and qualities of Jesus that he finds similar to his game which is why he admires him most.

“I support Manchester United,” Omala told The Good Company KE podcast. “We have started poorly [this season] but we will be fine.”

“My style of play is like Gabriel Jesus, he is a good player, as a player, I look at those who play in my position, not necessarily from the club I support. So, I look at the things he [Jesus] does.”

Omala then gave an insight into what he thinks is similar to his game with that of the Arsenal forward while explaining why he does not worry when he is not on the scoresheet.

“Defending starts from the front [with the strikers] going back so if I have not scored, pressure still comes from me to enable somebody else to score. If another striker scores, also the pressure is off me,” he said.

Omala considers himself among the modern strikers whose job is more than just scoring goals. Pressing and winning back possession higher up the pitch is the other thing forwards are required to do nowadays which makes it easy to put the opponent in a spot of bother while also creating space for others.

This is a trait Jesus is well known for since his days at Manchester City while his movement in and around the box is another thing that has similarities in the way Omala likes to play.

Omala is currently the leading scorer in the FKF Premier League with nine goals and having gone four games without finding the target, he will be keen to end that drought in Saturday’s key clash against Tusker FC.
