Taiwo Awoniyi is following in the footsteps of his fellow African and Liverpool legend, Mohamed Salah, in the Premier League.

Nigeria’s Taiwo Awoniyi continues to make waves in the Premier League following another outstanding contribution for Nottingham Forest

Awoniyi was in superb form again as Forest and newly promoted Burnley shared the spoils on Monday Night Football.

The Tricky Tees were forced to dig deep after coming from behind in the 1-1 draw against the Clarets at the City Ground.

In what has been a brilliant start to the season, the 26-year-old seems to have fully settled in at Forest and the Premier League.

Awoniyi became the latest African to score in seven consecutive matches in the Premier League when he netted against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

The Nigerian joined former clubmate at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, and Emmanuel Adebayor on that exclusive list.

Since that goal, he has gone on to provide two assists, with the latest a beautiful layoff for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s equaliser against their visitors on Monday.

His involvement in the goal against Burnley saw him join Mo Salah on another elusive Premier League list this season.

The Super Eagles forward has now scored or assisted 13 goals in the Premier League in 2023, with Egypt’s Mo Salah the only other player to match that record.

Nigerians took to social media to celebrate the former Union Berlin striker, with several of them referring to him as the ‘Nigerian Prince.’
