Angered Liverpool fans have now vented their frustrations on Trent Alexander-Arnold's expected departure to Real Madrid on a free transfer by vandalising his mural in Liverpool.
Just hours before what is expected to be his final outing in a Liverpool shirt, Trent Alexander-Arnold has become the target of fan backlash following confirmation of his move to Real Madrid.
The long-serving right-back, who joined Liverpool’s academy in 2004 and has spent two decades with the club, will depart Anfield at the end of the season to join the Spanish giants. However, his decision has not been universally embraced by the Anfield faithful.
A mural in his honour was recently vandalised, with the word “Rat” scrawled underneath — a stark sign of resentment from some sections of the fanbase.

Rising Stars Forward Seals Dream US Move After U20 AFCON Heroics
The left-footed winger has landed a major deal in America that has the potential of shaping his football and academic career in a great way.
The act comes on the heels of jeers directed at Alexander-Arnold during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on May 11th, highlighting the depth of emotion surrounding his exit.
Alexander-Arnold is set to feature one last time for the Reds on Sunday afternoon (May 25, 2:00 PM ET), when Liverpool host Crystal Palace in the final Premier League match of the season.
It will be an emotional afternoon at Anfield as the club lifts the Premier League trophy in front of home fans for the first time — and bids farewell to one of its homegrown heroes.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: I Am Eternally Grateful
Ahead of the match, the 25-year-old gave an emotional farewell speech to his teammates during their final training session.
“I’m just eternally grateful for everything that I’ve been given,” Alexander-Arnold said. “We all dream of these moments but, for me, it feels even more special because I’ve been here 20 years. It’s been my whole life — everything I’ve ever worked for and dreamt of.”

Mashemeji Derby Venue Change Leaves Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards Fans in Dilemma After Early Ticket Purchase
Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards who had bought Mashemeji Derby tickets early are left with tough choices after the match was moved from Nairobi to Homa Bay.
Reflecting on his time with the team, he added: “To share it with you guys and create these bonds — a lot of the lads, especially these guys here [pointing to Van Dijk and Alisson] — have seen me transition from a boy to a man.
The bonds and the brotherhood I’ve got with you guys will remain with me forever. I’ve got stories and memories I’ll be able to tell my kids and grandkids. I wasn’t prepared for this, but I appreciate all of you for everything.”
He also posted a short message to supporters on Instagram: “20 years. Gave it everything,” alongside a heart emoji and a photo of his boots.
Since breaking into the senior squad in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has made 353 appearances and helped Liverpool secure seven major trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
His departure will bring an end to a remarkable journey from local academy prospect to club icon — one now marred by an ugly sendoff from some of the very fans he once dreamed of making proud.
