Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno defiantly insists Gor Mahia will conquer all odds and secure both the FKF Cup and Premier League titles this season.

Gor Mahia interim coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno is confident that Gor Mahia will still win the FKF Premier League title and the FKF Cup title.

Gor Mahia are just fresh from winning their FKF Cup semifinal match against Murang’a Seal at the Dandora Stadium and will face either Mara Sugar or Nairobi United in the final.

Despite their off-field struggles, including the sacking of head coach Sinisa Mihic, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno remains confident that Gor Mahia are on the right track as far as winning the two trophies is concerned.

Speaking after their thrilling match against Murang’a Seal, Zico insisted that they still have time to turn things around.

He pointed out that Gor Mahia only need to win their remaining matches in order to climb to the top of the table and explained that they also do not worry about the FKF Cup final.

Gor Mahia will face AFC Leopards in the next fixture, before locking horns with Ulinzi Stars and end their Premier League campaign against Kenya Police.

“Going forward, we have a good team and we know what to do. We need to maintain the focus and strong character and we know they are tough players,” Zico said.

“From the beginning, we were planning to take two cups, and we are still on course, so there’s nothing to worry about. We just need to win our remaining matches, we don’t have a choice.”

Zico further explained that the players were bold enough to come back into the second half and play well in their match against Murang’a Seal.

Murang’a Seal had started their campaign on a high, but Gor Mahia bounced back, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw, forcing the teams to go into the penalty shootouts, where K’Ogalo reigned supreme.

He urged the players to maintain the same momentum in the final and their remaining Premier League matches if they are to come out victorious and go home with both trophies.

“It was a tough match, you always have to expect that when playing a semifinal. I want to appreciate all the players for showing their character, especially coming down, getting a goal and then adding a winning goal. Then there was an equaliser from our opponents,” Zico said.

“They showed a strong character, but we were ready for any eventuality; we had a plan and were going to execute it. It is unfortunate when you concede a goal from drawing, at this point, that should not happen.”

With the FKF Cup final in sight and the league title still within reach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno believes Gor Mahia’s destiny remains firmly in their hands. He has urged his players to stay focused, finish strong, and deliver a historic double for the club.
