Moffi was omitted from Nigeria’s squad for the clash against Sierra Leone, but he has something to celebrate.

Super Eagles star Terem Moffi has won the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) goal of the tournament for the 2022/2023 season.

Messi’s stunning strike for Nice against Basel in the first leg of their quarter-final clash topped the ten selected strikes.

The Super Eagles star’s strike against the Swiss side was selected as the winner by the UEFA Technical Observer Panel.

Moffi’s scored a brace in the game but it was his second that stood out. The former Lorient striker scored a fantastic overhead kick from Gaetan Laborde’s cross to put Nice ahead 2-1 on the night.

Although Nice would eventually lose the tie 4-3 on aggregate, Moffi’s stunning strike was one of the highlights of the two games.

The award caps off a fine season for the 24-year-old Nigerian striker. Moffi had his best season yet after scoring 21 goals in all competitions, including 18 in the Ligue 1.

He scored 12 for Lorient in the first half of the campaign before scoring another six for Nice following his move in January.

The former Kortrijk finished the UECL campaign with three goals in four games to end his campaign with 21 goals in 38 matches.

However, despite scoring more than any other Nigerian striker in Europe’s top five leagues aside from Victor Osimhen, Moffi was not included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying Campaign against Sierra Leone.
