Spanish media reported that Mbappe lost a significant amount of weight while undergoing treatment for diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting.

Mbappe was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis by American doctors, an infectious condition causing inflammation of the digestive tract lining.

The illness caused the Real Madrid star to lose almost five kilograms (approximately 11 pounds).

He will require a period of recovery before he can resume normal training with his Real Madrid teammates.

The Spanish club has been trying to determine how and where the French forward contracted the virus.

According to Marca, one hypothesis suggests MbappE fell ill in Madrid before traveling to the US.

Initially, Mbappe trained normally with his teammates, but his condition deteriorated rapidly at the hotel.

"Considering the incubation period, it's likely he contracted it at home, arriving already weakened and removed from his normal training routine," the same publication explained.

The good news for Real Madrid fans and Xabi Alonso is that Mbappe has been able to return to some training, completing gym sessions and individual exercises earlier this week.

Mbappe was even seen taking a stroll on the beach, posting a photo on Instagram wearing a white t-shirt, sunglasses, and a hat.

Coach Xabi Alonso stated in Tuesday's press conference, "I'm looking forward to having him back on the pitch, but we have to see how his condition progresses day by day. We need to be patient and see when he can contribute to this competition."
