Gor Mahia midfielder Alpha Onyango has opened up on how the club’s shocking early FKF Cup exit at the hands of lower-tier side Denmark FC in February 2024 lit a fire under the team to pursue cup redemption in 2025.
The FKF Premier League heavyweights were stunned 5–4 on penalties by Division One outfit Denmark FC at the Ukunda Showgrounds, following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Then-head coach Johnathan McKinstry was left shell-shocked as little-known goalkeeper Mohamed Omar emerged the hero for the Kwale-based underdogs, sending Gor Mahia packing in the Round of 32.
