Kenya Police interim coach Salim Babu has explained what he has done differently to record an unbeaten run since taking charge of the club in January.

Kenya Police head coach Salim Babu has revealed how he managed to talk the squad to buying into his methods which in turn enabled the club to start getting results on a more consistent basis.

Babu was given the job on an interim basis after the club parted ways with Zdravko Logarusic in January after the Croatian tactician fell out with his squad in December.

Since January, Police have gone on an unbeaten run that has now seen them jump from 13th to fifth place, and after 22 games, are 12 points behind Gor Mahia.

Now, Babu has revealed how he managed to galvanise his squad to start delivering results on a more consistent basis.

“This run has been good because I have never lost a game since taking charge of the club,” Babu told Pulse Sports.

“We have planned to try and keep this run going in the remaining 10-12 games of the season in order to finish in a good position.

“We have tried talking to these boys because they were under so much pressure which affected them.

"I just told them not to put themselves under pressure if they wanted to play well. We talked for like two days and they bought into what I was telling them.

“I think it has become easy for them as a result and that is why they are actually playing well.”

Babu has expressed bitter-sweet feelings for drawing against Ulinzi Stars last Monday, with both sides having to settle for a point.

“Our plan against Ulinzi Stars was to get all the three points which we unfortunately did not get but if we can get all the three points in all matches, I think we will be in a good position," he added.

Babu has, however, insisted the club will continue taking it a game at a time if they are to stand a chance of closing the gap on Gor Mahia, a team they beat four weeks ago in the league.

“Those ahead of us are ahead of us but we are focusing on ourselves and all the games. I believe we will do well in the forthcoming games and finish in a good position," said the former Nzoia Sugar coach.
