Gusii delivered a second-half masterclass to humiliate Vihiga at Simeon Nyachae Stadium on Monday.

There were goals galore at the Simeon Nyachae Stadium as Gusii FC thumped Vihiga United 5-2 on Monday afternoon.

A hat-trick from Cyrus Oucho and a goal each from Daniel Mutahi and Kelvin Elengwa did the damage for Gusii, while Amos Kigadi and Morgan Abuka found the back of the net for Vihiga.

Gusii almost found themselves ahead in the 12th minute, but Hadi Hamisi blazed over the bar a penalty that had been awarded after a Vihiga defender hacked the striker inside the area.

The visitors were the first to score in the 25th minute when a low cross from Simon Ouko found Amos Kagandi, who got across the defender brilliantly before directing home from close range.

Gusii had a chance to score an equalizer just before the half-time break as Pablo Oduor burst into the visitor’s box, but the former Mara Sugar playmaker failed to score - firing over the crossbar. The score was 1-0 at the interval.

Gusii came out brimming with confidence after their half-time team talk, and they levelled matters in the 63rd minute courtesy of Cyrus Oucho.

Vihiga went ahead in the 73rd minute courtesy of red-hot striker Morgan Abuka, but their lead did not stay long as Daniel Mutahi slotted a penalty after one of Gusii's players was fouled in the box to give the hosts a spot-kick.

Cyrus Oucho got into the Vihiga box again and gave the hosts the lead in the 73rd minute before Kelvin Elegwa made it 4-2 in the 83rd minute.

With three minutes remaining to the end of the match, Gusii were 5-2, with Oucho completing his hat-trick.

The win saw Gusii climb to third on the standings with 37 points while Vihiga United, who were left to rue their chances, are second from the bottom of the table with 12 points.
