It was unexpected for the Glamour Boys to travel to Vihiga and pick up an unlikely three points.
The National Super League (NSL) action continued on Monday, with three matches played nationwide as Shabana kept their hopes of returning to the top flight after 17 years alive by annihilating Vihiga United at Mumias Sports Complex.
The Glamour Boys began well as they pressed Vihiga, striking their first goal in the 20th through Peter Ongechi before Wycliffe Mutua added the second two minutes before the interval.
Vihiga United goalkeeper Antony Obonyo was kept busy in the opening stages of the second stanza; however, Shabana found their third goal in the 56th minute, with Mutua completing a brace.
The home side's defense was at sixes and sevens as they conceded their fourth goal in the 69th minute through Vincent Nyabuto.
In the closing stages, the ruthless Glamour Boys grabbed their fifth in the 86th minute courtesy of Nyabuto for his second of the game before Derima Wecha completed the rout deep in injury time.

NSL Shabana stretch lead at the summmit after thumping Mombasa Elite in two-day encounter
The first half of the match was played yesterday with the second being finished today.
The victory puts Sahabana firmly on top of the table with 45 points from 20 matches, while Vihiga United remained in the 15th spot with 12 points.
Mombasa Elite moved closer to the top five on the NSL standings after edging out Gusii FC 2-1 at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.
Yusuf Deng scored in the 14th minute with a decent finish before Emmanuel Lunalo added the second seven minutes later.
Wycliffe Nyangechi scored Gusii’s consolation half an hour from the spot.
And as the visitors battled to find the rhythm, they were reduced to ten men in the closing stage of the match as Bravo Otieno got his marching orders for the second bookable offence.
The win took Elite to the seventh spot on the league standings with 29 points, two points behind sixth-placed Mara Sugar, while Gusii FC remained third with 34 points.

League leaders Shabana FC face Vihiga United as SS Assad host Migori Youth FC.
Lastly, SS Assad fought hard to secure a 3-1 win against Migori Youth at Shamu Grounds in Ukunda to ease their relegation concerns.
Goals from Abdallah Mdeka, Beja Nyawai, and Ali Mwazizi saw Assad get the win.
The result, however, saw SS Assad remain 14th on the league standings with 15 points from 20 games, and they will have to fight hard to ensure that they get two more wins to get out of the red line.
