Spanish coach Xabi Alonso will begin his job as the new Real Madrid boss at the Club World Cup after replacing veteran Carlo Ancelotti in May.

Alonso was confirmed in the Real Madrid hot seat after a brilliant stint at German club Bayer Leverkusen where he won the 2023-24 Bundesliga title after an unbeaten season and has the tough task of maintaining Los Blancos’ winning streak in every competition they play in.

Simone Inzaghi

Italian coach Simone Inzaghi has just been unveiled as the new coach of big-spending Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, who also hope to conquer the world.

Inzaghi did not even finish a week after guiding Inter Milan to the UEFA Champions League final, his second in three seasons, and although they were thrashed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain, the credentials of the former Lazio coach were never in doubt after winning six trophies, including the Serie A, in four years with the Nerazzurri.

Cristian Chivu

Cristian Chivu has returned to Inter Milan as their new head coach.

Exit, Inzaghi, enter Chivu. Cristian Chivu is the man set to replace Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan after agreeing a two-year contract to leave Serie A rivals Parma.

The Romanian is no stranger to Inter as he played there from 2007-2014 and then worked as youth coach from 2018-2024 and will hope to make his mark at the Club World Cup.

Spanish coach Jose Riveiro is another newly-appointed tactician at the Club World Club and will be leading Africa’s biggest and most successful team in Egyptian giants Al Ahly, having been unveiled over one week ago.

Unlike the others on the list, who were great players, Riveiro has no such CV but he made a name for himself during a three-year stint with South African giants Orlando Pirates where he revived the fortunes of the club, winning five trophies, while nurturing a number of youngsters, to catch the eyes of Al Ahly, who will be making their 11th appearance at the Club World Cup.
