Kenyan Duncan Otieno's return from injury falls short as SuperSport United secures a dominant 3-0 win over Gaborone United.

Kenyan international Duncan Otieno made a long-awaited return to the pitch for Gaborone United, but his efforts were in vain as SuperSport United emerged victorious with a resounding 3-0 win on Friday night, securing a 4-1 aggregate victory in the CAF Confederation Cup clash.

Otieno, who had been sidelined for three months due to injury, played for 62 minutes before being replaced by Lebogang Ditsele.

The match, which had fans on the edge of their seats, witnessed SuperSport breaking the deadlock 12 minutes into the second half. It was a moment of brilliance as Ronald Pfumbidzai's precise delivery found Etiosa Ighodaro, who wasted no time in smashing the ball into the net, giving SuperSport a crucial 1-0 lead.

SuperSport United, determined to cement their dominance, made a strategic substitution after 64 minutes. The versatile Lyle Lakay entered the field, replacing Campbell and adding another layer of depth to their already formidable attacking lineup.

The South African side continued to assert their superiority on the pitch. Ighodaro, already having found the net once, completed his brace with a close-range finish that extended their lead to 2-0, leaving Gaborone United with a mountain to climb and just 20 minutes to do so.

The icing on the cake came deep into injury time, adding salt to Gaborone United's wounds. Substitute Bradley Grobler showcased his class with a beautifully taken finish that made it 3-0 on the night. This goal not only sealed the victory for SuperSport United but also ensured a convincing 4-1 aggregate triumph.

For Duncan Otieno, the match marked a long-awaited return to competitive action after a challenging three-month layoff due to injury.

While his return undoubtedly provided a morale boost to Gaborone United, it was clear that he was still finding his rhythm on the pitch. Despite his best efforts, he could not prevent his side from bowing out of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The disappointment was palpable for Gaborone United's fans, who had hoped that Otieno's return would be a game-changer. However, facing a formidable SuperSport United side that displayed skill, precision, and a relentless attacking spirit, Gaborone United found themselves outclassed.

On the other hand, SuperSport United showcased their championship pedigree, displaying a cohesive team effort that left no room for doubt about their aspirations in the CAF Confederation Cup.

With players like Ighodaro and Grobler delivering standout performances, SuperSport United sent a clear message to their competitors that they are a force to be reckoned with in this tournament.
