K'Ogalo coach Johnathan McKinstry is set to face tough back-to-back fixtures against Bidco United, Shabana, and Kenya Police FC

Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has emphasized the need to conserve energy levels ahead of gruelling fixtures against Bidco United, Shabana, and Kenya Police FC.

With an impressive and unbeaten streak in the current season, K'Ogalo sits in a comfortable second position on the league table.

McKinstry's charges have secured four wins and three draws, amassing 15 points from their seven matches played so far.

Speaking to the press, McKinstry highlighted the significance of maintaining focus on the immediate task at hand.

"We are coming into an interesting week, three games in the course of eight days, Bidco, Shabana, and Police,” he noted. “So we know we're gonna have to manage energy levels well. But right now, our entire focus is on securing three points against Bidco.”

However, McKinstry, an advocate for staying rooted in the present, warned his team about getting ahead of themselves.

"It is a bit like when you are driving the car and you are paying attention to stuff going on at a distance; you sometimes miss a pothole in front of you," he analogized.

Bidco United, though positioned sixth on the table with 10 points, should not be underestimated.

The Thika-based side's recent goalless draw against Murang’a Seal is a testament to their defensive capabilities, and their overall performance this season includes two wins and four draws.

“We know Bidco have had a good start to the season. They've only faced one defeat in their seven matches, so we're gearing up for a formidable opponent,” McKinstry acknowledged.

The Northern Irishman's respect for the opponent's prowess was evident, but so was his confidence in Gor Mahia's capabilities.

“We have got quality in the team, we know where we will play chances. If we take those chances, I think we can control the game. But, if we give Bidco an opening to come, they can make the game difficult for us,” the coach asserted.

With a dense schedule ahead, K’Ogalo has a challenging week. After their face-off with Bidco, they are set to play against Shabana on November 1, followed by a match against Kenya Police four days later.

While these games are on the horizon, McKinstry's mantra remains clear: focus on the task at hand.

“We are coming into an interesting week, three games in the course of eight days, Bidco, Shabana, and Police,” McKinstry highlighted. “However, our eyes are firmly on Bidco for now. We'll strategize for the other games once we're past this one,” he concluded.
