Asati is adamant there are some young quality talents at KCB that could help Kenya fulfil its potential in rugby.

Kenya Simbas scrum-half Samwel Asati has revealed excitement following the emergence of some exciting young rugby players at his club KCB this season.

Some young players, including Andy Cole, Elvis Olukusi and Chipu captain Michael Wamalwa, have risen to prominence at the club this season, playing integral roles in the side’s road to the final against Kabras Sugar slated for Saturday 6 April.

All have been tipped for future Kenya Simbas and Shujaa roles, and Asati, who himself is a product of coming through the youth ranks from a young age believes that these players could help Kenya go far in rugby.

“It shows the transition is quite good. Them maturing at such a young age shows Kenya has a lot of talent which could take us far,” Asati said.

Asati has sent a message to these players, asking them to stay humble and patient as they add more ammunition to their arsenal in order to become unstoppable in their careers.

“You have to mark the steps of growth each minute, day by day, and do not rush things. You have to go process by process and believe in yourself.”

Meanwhile, the KCB vice-captain is hungry to take the Kenya Cup trophy back to Ruaraka when they face Kabras at the final in Kakamega.

“There has been drought at the den for quite some time, so going there, we have the goal of showing gratitude to the sponsor by bringing the trophy back to them.”

KCB and Kabras have dominated the Kenya Cup in the last eight years, Curtis Olago’s men winning five titles over that period, including four straight between 2017 and 2021.

During that time, Kabras were on the losing end until 2022 when they turned the tide in their favor to claim the last two titles.

This year looks to be the same with the two showing remarkable dominance yet again.
