Kenya Morans head to the 2025 Rugby Africa Men's Sevens with a blend of debutants and experienced players, aiming to reclaim the African title they lost to Uganda.

Kenya Morans head coach Louis Kisia has unveiled his final squad for the 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens, scheduled for June 21–22 at Labourdonnais Sports Club in Mauritius.

The technical team, led by Louis Kisia, has selected 12 players, including four debutants, who will be looking to prove a point with the hope of being named in upcoming tournaments.

George ‘Japolo’ Ooro has been named as the captain, with Chrisant Ojwang joining him as the vice-captain.

Kenya has been pooled in Group A and will face off against the defending champions Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Pool B includes South Africa, who claimed the top prize at the 2025 HSBC SVNS World Championship, Burkina Faso, Zambia and Nigeria. Meanwhile, Pool C has Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and the hosts, Mauritius.

With the four debutants and an experienced crop of players, they will be looking to make a mark on the continental stage.

The event holds added significance as the top two teams will earn promotion to the SVNS Division 3, part of World Rugby’s newly introduced Sevens structure.

William Mwanji and Dennis Abukuse, who made their Kenya 7s debuts during the 2024 Dubai leg, have earned selection once again. They will be joined by Floyd Wabwire in the final travelling squad.

Jackson Siketi, the talented Kabras Sugar prospect, retains his place alongside fellow Morans teammates Brian Mutua and Lameck Ambetsa.

Kenya heads into the tournament with the hope of reclaiming the African title they lost to Uganda last year. They finished sixth in both legs of the 2024 edition. Kenya last won the continental trophy in 2023, and they will be looking to return the trophy home.

“There is always everything to play for when you take to the field. The boys always want to win and make a good name for themselves. If you go to the Africa Sevens and win it, then you become African champions,” Louis Kisia said as per SportPesa Blog.
