Renowned Kenyan fencer Alexandra Ndolo seeks assistance to secure necessary funding for Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers due to unmet promises.

German-born Kenyan fencer Alexandra Ndolo has reached out to her family, friends, and fans for assistance as she faces potential hurdles in her journey to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Ndolo, currently ranked at the top of the Africa Paris 2024 qualifiers, is concerned that unfulfilled promises from the Ministry of Sports might jeopardize her participation in the upcoming events.

The 37-year-old, who proudly represents Kenya on the international stage, has been diligently preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics from her training base in Germany.

Her remarkable achievements on the fencing circuit have earned her the respect and admiration of fans around the world. She secured silver at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, solidifying her position as a force to be reckoned with.

But Ndolo finds herself grappling with the challenges of securing the necessary budget to continue her successful journey.

"Hey Family, friends and fans, I need your help! As you all know I live and train in Germany at the moment to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

"Since last September I have proudly represented Kenya at the highest level, but things haven’t been easy. Now on my summer break I am trying to get a hold of our Sports Ministry to secure a budget that will allow me to continue my successful story for Kenya, but I can’t get a hold of the people in charge. Please help me reach them."

Ndolo's previous endeavors were supported by Kenya, which funded her participation in the African and World Championships, providing her with a coach and a physiotherapist to aid in her training and performance.

However, the uncertainty surrounding her upcoming qualifiers has left her facing a potential funding gap of up to Sh950,000.

The next phase of qualifiers is scheduled to take place across multiple locations including Vancouver, Estonia, Qatar, Barcelona, Hungary, and China between November 2023 and March 2024.

Ndolo's track record speaks volumes about her prowess in fencing. She is the 2019 bronze and 2017 silver medalist of the European Championships, underscoring her consistent success on the global stage.
