The Blues defeated the Cherries thanks to goals from Caicedo and Sterling, helping Chelsea guarantee European football next season.

Chelsea recorded their fifth successive victory in the Premier League for the first time since March 2022 after beating Bournemouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Moises Caicedo and Raheem Sterling put Chelsea 2-0 ahead before an own goal by Badiashile reduced the deficit.

First half

In the early exchanges at Stamford Bridge, Nicholas Jackson had Chelsea's first chance when he was played through by Sterling, who returned to the starting line-up. However, the Senegalese striker couldn't hit the target.

Chelsea's next chance soon came after Sterling played Palmer in, but the 22-year-old attacker shot wide under pressure from the Bournemouth defense.

The Blues had a shout for a penalty in the 11th minute when Sterling was brought down in the penalty box, but VAR decided against awarding Chelsea a spot kick.

Moises Caicedo scored one of the goals of the season when he hit his first goal for the West London side.

A loose ball broke for the Ecuadorian, and he curled a glorious strike from the halfway line after Neto came out to clear a ball when Sterling was through on goal.

The opening exchanges was all Chelsea, and they could have been further in front, but Palmer could not pick out a teammate when he was in acres of space.

Second half

Chelsea started the second half as they ended the first. Raheem Sterling, benefiting from a Cole Palmer pass, danced through the right side of Bournemouth’s defence before finding the back of the net – his eighth league goal of the season.

Bournemouth responded instantly with a goal of their own. Less than two minutes after Sterling’s goal, Enes Ünal met a cross from the left, then beat Cucurella before his strike was deflected by Badiashile into Chelsea’s net.

The goal did give the Cherries some form of confidence, and they improved greatly and troubled Chelsea, but they couldn't get anything more from the game.

Thiago Silva came close to ending his Chelsea career with a goal, but his header in added time was blocked. Bournemouth went up the other end and could have scored, but Solanke fired over from two yards out.

Mauricio Pochettino's men sat sixth going into the final game against Bournemouth and were hoping to finish on a high. The Blues managed to do exactly that in some style and guarantee European football going into next season.
