This year’s Met Gala attracted some of the greatest athletes in the world from tennis star Serena Williams to NBA player Dwayne Wade.
The athletes certainly stole the show with their eye-catching fashion sense and proved that they not only do well in the field but also on the runway. Athletes descended on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan to showcase their stunning fashion sense.
Most of the athletes who showed up for the Met meant business as they also mingled with other big names from New York City, Washington, D.C., and Hollywood and this article outlines a list of five sports stars who showed up and out at the Met Gala.
1) Serena Williams

Serena Williams has made several appearances at the Met Gala and she is the queen of stealing the show at the event. During the 2024 edition of the Met, she was spotted wearing a golden dress with an elongated train.
The one shoulder Balenciaga dress was paired it with black gloves, tights and shoes. Made from 25 metres of gold foil-laminated taffeta sourced from Italy, the dress was complemented by headpiece featuring golden floral accessories.
2) Dwayne Wade

The former American professional basketball player always steals the show at the Met Gala and he surely was on fire this year, posing alongside his wife, Gabrielle Union.
He was wearing a lilac Versace suit with two necklaces on the right lapel, a white top and black shoes while his lovely wife wore a high-neck Michael Kors dress with a cascading ombré scale pattern of lilac, green and teal blue.
3) Angel Reese

Angel Reese is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association. She made her first appearance at the event, sporting a shimmering dress from British label 16Arlington.

4) Benn Simmons

Benn Simmons is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association. Simmons stunned in a stellar Thom Browne look, and he was in sync with the theme which was, Garden of Time.
He also carried a briefcase clock, a literal interpretation of the theme. The outfit is surely a frontrunner for one of most discussed at the Gala, especially given the nature theme of 2024.
5) Lewis Hamilton

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton also stole the show, just like he does when driving the rally cars. Hamilton wore a custom all-black Burberry ensemble dedicated to one of the UK's first Black gardeners, John Ystumllyn.
He paired his tailored black coat, which featured floral bullion embellishments, with a double-breasted suit and leather boots from the British heritage brand. He completed his look with a Briony Raymond jewelry that had yellow-diamond earrings, multiple diamond rings, and a statement wreath necklace.
