CHAN 2024 Blow For Harambee Stars Coach Benni McCarthy as Another Top Forward Flies to Zambia

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy will have to do without another top player at CHAN 2024 after a leading striker flew to Zambia to complete a transfer.

Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy might have to do without the FKF Premier League’s two leading scorers during the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024).

This follows the departure of Kakamega Homeboyz forward Moses Shumah to Zambian champion Power Dynamos last week, having sealed a deal after his impressive season that saw him finish at the top scorer with 17 goals.

Now, Shumah is set to be quickly followed to the club by FC Talanta forward Emmanuel Osoro, who has flown to Zambia to complete a transfer, according to latest reports.

Power Dynamos are showing great ambition as they prepare for next season when they will play in the CAF Champions League and have identified the two Kenyan strikers as the men to add firepower to their attack.

Osoro finished as the second highest leading scorer in the FKF Premier League with 16 goals last season but that was still not enough to save FC Talanta from relegation.

Following the club’s drop to the second tier, he was expected to leave with clubs in Kenya also interested but he has chosen to test himself in Zambia.

If he signs a deal this week as it is widely expected, then he will miss out on the CHAN tournament, which is reserved for players plying their trade in their local leagues, robbing coach McCarthy his two main strikers just three weeks to the event.

The two players’ departure will open up opportunities for others in the squad but will deny the South African tactician the ammunition that he requires to fire Kenya to success at CHAN 2024.

Harambee Stars are in a tough Group A that has Morocco, Zambia, DR Congo and Angola and require all their best players to help them get into the knockout rounds.
