Uganda is placed in group B alongside Central African Republic, Congo and Cecafa neighbours South Sudan. The team is currently camping at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.

Wakiso Giants defender Ronald Madoi is relishing every moment while with the Uganda Hippos team bound for the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The defender who came through the Purole Sharks junior ranks has been on the rise playing a role in the Uganda Cubs 2021 AFCON U-17 campaign which the teams successfully qualified after winning the CECAFA qualifiers.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the continental governing body CAF and hosts Morocco to cancel.

Madoi now has another chance to play at a continental stage after playing a part in the Uganda Hippos qualification for AFCON U-20 that rolls off on the 19th of this month in Egypt.

"I was part of the Under-17 that won the CECAFA and qualified to AFCON in 2017. Unfortunately, we were not able to play at the finals because of COVID-19 but now we are now here," Madoi told the media after the team's training on Tuesday at MUBS Grounds.

Progress

He added: "I have been progressing well and managed to graduate to the National U-20, debuting at the Ceacafa U-20 in Sudan."

"I thank God for every opportunity and want to make the chance count. We're all very fit and ready to fight and take the team to the World Cup."

Uganda is placed in group B alongside Central African Republic, Congo and Cecafa neighbours South Sudan. The team is currently camping at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.
