Manchester United are eyeing a promising teenage forward who helped his club earn promotion and is attracting interest from Europe's elite.

English Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly interested in Metz striker Idrissa Gueye.

The 18-year-old prodigy made 20 appearances for the French club during the 2024-25 season, scoring five goals and providing one assist, helping his team secure promotion back to Ligue 1.

This has caught the eye of the Red Devils, who have identified him as a potential transfer target, according to Afrik Foot.

Gueye is under contract with his current club until June 2029, having joined from Generation Foot in January.

The teenager helped the team win the Senegal Ligue 1 title in the 2022-23 season, at just 16 years old, and scored 12 goals in 26 matches for the club before departing.

Gueye was part of the Senegal squad that recorded a memorable 3-1 victory over England in a friendly match on Tuesday evening, although he remained on the bench. Manchester United have been scouting the forward in recent weeks.

Metz will fight hard to keep Gueye, but the French club understands it will be difficult to retain him due to the growing interest. In addition to Manchester United, the youngster is also being monitored by Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Arsenal.

United Face Competition as Transfer Race Heats Up

Manchester United continue to search for the best young talent in world football, with new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe determined to build a team for the future. Chido Obi, Aiden Haven, and Sekou Khoune are among the youngsters who recently moved to Old Trafford.

All three have already shown their potential with some very strong performances.

Even if Manchester United were to sign Gueye, it would be a big ask for him to lead the line next season, with the assumption being that a more experienced player will arrive in that area of the pitch.

Victor Osimhen is currently thought to be the Red Devils' number one target up front, but other names are also being mentioned, the latest being Hugo Ekitike.
