Barcelona and Monaco struggle to agree on Ansu Fati’s transfer terms, with loan, salary, and buy-back clause causing disputes.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Monaco for Ansu Fati are reportedly not going smoothly, according to Marca.

The French club made a swift move to secure his services before the end of the season, but talks have hit a snag. The two clubs have significant differences regarding the deal, with Barcelona rejecting Monaco's initial offer.

Barcelona's initial plan was to sell the player with a buy-back option. However, Monaco is unwilling to purchase him outright.

Buy-Back Clause vs. Loan Stalemate

The French side's proposal is for a loan, but without covering Fati's full salary, which has become quite substantial after his latest contract extension.

Barca are reluctant to accept this offer, as they prefer not to loan out players while still paying a significant portion of their wages. This is the primary reason for their rejection.

It remains to be seen whether Monaco will submit a second offer. Jorge Mendes, Fati's agent, will attempt to find a solution that satisfies all parties involved.

His client is aware of the need for regular playing time, having seen limited minutes last season under Hansi Flick.

Fati could have even left the club during the winter transfer window, having only played in the Copa del Rey match against Barbastro in January, and often being left out of the squad entirely.

This was a clear message to him to depart, but Fati declined and opted to stay until the end of the season.
