Liverpool fans have been left disappointed after learning that Trent Alexander-Arnold had been planning to leave the club for a long time when he spoke fluent Spanish at Real Madrid.

Liverpool fans have been left disappointed after learning that departed hero Trent Alexander-Arnold can speak fluent Spanish after he wowed Real Madrid officials during his unveiling.

Alexander-Arnold was finally unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Thursday and during his presentation, few expected that he could speak in Spanish.

The Liverpool-born right-back opened his remarks with the famous “Hala Madrid” before he went on to give his entire speech in Spanish to the delight of the Madrid officials, including president Florentino Perez, but to the dismay of Reds supporters.

"Thank you, Florentino Perez and the club, for this opportunity. This doesn't happen every day. It's a dream come true. I'm very happy and proud to be here,” Alexander-Arnold said in his welcome speech.

"I want to show Real Madrid fans how I play. I do realise I'm signing for Real Madrid, the demands are high, but I'm going to give my all to the team and Real Madrid fans.

"I want to show those fans how I play. I want to win many titles, I want to be a winner here and enjoy playing alongside the best. Hala Madrid."

Alexander-Arnold later revealed that he had been learning Spanish for a few months but while it was a welcome gesture in Madrid, those who follow Liverpool felt betrayed.

“He has been planning to leave for a long time,” one fan observed.

“Liverpool fans were on here begging him to stay while Trent was on Duolingo asking, 'how do you say leng in Spanish?"

“Couldn't learn to defend the back post all his career and managed to learn Spanish in one year,” another Reds supporter said.

“Grew up wanting to be Steven Gerrard but it’s his dream come true to play for Madrid,” said another Liverpool fan.

“He has been a Real Madrid fan for eight years now secretly learning Spanish, no wonder Liverpool never beat Madrid in a match.”

Alexander-Arnold has signed a six-year contract at Madrid and will wear the No.12 shirt which was worn by Brazilian left-back Marcelo during his 16 years at the club.
