Matheus Cunha has spoken for the first time after being officially unveiled by Manchester United following a £62.5m transfer.

Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha has officially signed with Manchester United for a reported £62.5 million, marking a significant move in the club's summer rebuild.

The 26-year-old, who previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, passed his medical last month and has now been unveiled in the club's new home kit.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen United's attack, which struggled last season, scoring their lowest Premier League goal tally ever, 44.

While Ruben Amorim is looking to reshape the squad, he will have a limited transfer budget of around £125 million, supplemented by any funds raised through player sales, and with Matheus Cunha on board, the gaffer can now sigh in relief since one issue has been addressed.

Matheus Cunha expressed his excitement about joining the club he has admired since childhood, noting that it is indeed a dream come true.

"It's hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil, watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team. I dreamed of wearing the red shirt," he told the club's webiste.

He also shared his joy with fans on Instagram, posting a picture of himself in the United kit with the caption, "It's all about following your dreams!"

Manchester United's Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, played a key role in securing the deal and expressed his satisfaction with the signing.

"Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities this summer. He has proven his ability to succeed in the Premier League during his time at Wolves, and before that in Spain and Germany," Wilcox stated.

"He has all the qualities we are looking for as we build a strong, dynamic, and entertaining team capable of challenging for major honors."

Matheus Cunha had a strong season with Wolves last season, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in 33 Premier League appearances.

This output significantly surpassed any Manchester United player's league goal tally. Despite signing a new four-year contract with Wolves in February, Cunha had expressed his ambition to compete at a higher level.

"I've made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential," he said in March.

Reports suggest that Manchester United will pay the transfer fee to Wolves in three installments of £20.85 million over two years.
