Juventus' American winger finds himself in Monrovia with increased security measures.

American winger Timothy Weah has made a visit to his father's homeland of Liberia, just days after being unveiled as a player for Italian giants Juventus.

The 23-year-old, who is the son of former FIFA Player of the Year and current Liberian President George Weah, has been spotted training at Invincible Sports Park in Monrovia under tight security.

While the purpose of Weah's visit to Liberia remains unclear, it has been reported that he is staying at his father's palace, where security measures have been heightened.

Local journalists have been left disappointed as they have been denied the opportunity to interview the young football star.

A Liberian FA official, who sought anonymity, shed some light on the situation to Pulse Sports saying, "Yes, he's still here. It's difficult to speak to him because he's at his father's palace where there's tight security, and even yesterday (Thursday) when he was on the field, they never allowed journalists to interview him."

Timothy Weah, born in New York, began his football journey with the New York Red Bull's academy before moving on to PSG's setup.

Known for his versatility, Weah played as a full-back for Lille last season but primarily operates as a right winger for the United States Men's National Team (USMNT).

Having joined Lille in 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain, Weah made 107 appearances and scored eight goals for the French side.

He played a crucial role in Lille's successful campaign, helping them secure the Ligue 1 title in 2022 and the Tropheé des Champions later that year.

Weah's talent and contributions have also earned him a significant role within the USMNT, where he has accumulated 31 appearances and scored four goals since his senior international debut in 2018.

Weah's arrival at Juventus marks the second USMNT star on the team, joining the likes of Weston McKennie.

However, it remains to be seen whether the two players will have the opportunity to share the pitch, as rumours have circulated that McKennie might be departing Juventus following his loan spell at Leeds United.

As the details of Timothy Weah's visit to Liberia unfold, fans are left eagerly anticipating an official statement or interview that might shed light on the purpose of his visit.

Whether it is a personal visit or related to his football career, Weah's presence in Liberia has certainly generated significant interest and speculation both locally and internationally.
