Assad returned to winning ways, while Elite, All Stars, and Mara earned three points on Friday.

National Super League (NSL) table leaders Shabana FC suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat against relegation candidates SS Assad at the Shamu Grounds in Ukunda on Friday afternoon.

It was not the Glamour Boys’ day, as they gave away soft goals and missed several easy chances in what is now their heaviest defeat of the season.

Shabana could not have made a worse start, as a poor touch in the sixth minute allowed Beja Nyamawi to steal the ball at the backline before poking it into an open goal from a few meters out.

Nyamawi was at it again in the 43rd minute when he added their second before the visitors pulled one back in the fourth minute of first half added time courtesy of Cornelius Lusaka after some sloppy Assad defending.

In the 48th minute, the hosts made it 3-1 through a brilliant exchange of passes, ending with Juma Pinda squaring for Nyamawi to sweep home from the middle of the penalty area.

Meanwhile, Mara Sugar beat visiting Coastal Heroes 3-1 in a match that took place at Awendo Green Stadium.

The Sugar Millers took a surprise lead eight minutes into the encounter courtesy of Victor Ngume but Heroes pulled one back four minutes later.

The momentum was with Mara, and they were soon 2-1 up in the 20th minute when Ngume netted his second after being sent through on goal.

Mara put the game to bed through Robert Obanga in the 91st minute. Despite getting five minutes of added time, the visitors could not create any more openings as they suffered their tenth defeat of the season.

Elsewhere, Kibera Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mombasa Elite FC in a match played at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.

Elite claimed the lead in the 29th minute with red-hot striker Emmanuel Changwe coolly turning the ball home from close range into an almost unguarded net.

Black Stars found an equalizer in the 85th minute through Asabu Stallone, but David Oduor got the winning goal for the hosts deep in injury time.

At the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, hosts Kisumu All Stars secured a 3-0 win over Darajani Gogo.
