KCB coach explains how important it will be to grab maximum points against Police, arguing that they will make life difficult for the law enforcers.

KCB head coach Patrick Odhiambo has put Kenya Police on notice ahead of their crunch Football Kenya Federation Premier League Fixture on April 26.

The bankers will host Police FC at the Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a County this Saturday, with the match likely to impact this season's title race after the law enforcers dropped to second position on the log.

The bankers will be keen to bag three points at the weekend’s fixture following their recent poor run of form. Last weekend, Odhiambo’s men settled for a 1-1 draw with Mara Sugar away in Awendo, Migori County.

“We are entering a crucial phase of the season therefore, we need to be fully fit and mentally ready to take on our opponents. The weekend’s fixture is not an easy one so, we have to go there with the right mentality to win the game. The remaining matches are like finals for us, we have to take it head on,” Patrick Odhiambo said.

After their recent performances in the league, KCB are currently sitting fifth on the log with 41 points behind Tusker, Police, Gor Mahia and Shabana FC who occupy the first four positions respectively.

“I am happy because the boys are showing a strong desire to win the upcoming match. We have trained well for the game so, I know we will go out there and win the match to stand a chance of clinching our maiden Kenya Premier League title,” said an ecstatic captain Michael Mutinda.

Coach Patrick ‘Luwowo’ Odhiambo is expected to make minimal changes to the squad that started the match against Mara Sugar in his first eleven.

At the heart of defence, Bonphas Munyasa will start in goal, Kevin Okumu, Nahson Wekesa, Maurice Owino and Francis Oduor will make up the backline.

Midfield will be made up of captain Michael Mutinda as a number 6, Dennis Maruti at 8 and Derrick Otieno as a number 10. The attacking force will be made up of James Kinyanjui and Patrick Otieno on the flanks while Danson Kiprono is expected to start at number 9 ahead of the regular Francis Kahiro.

The team has also received a massive boost following the return of Kenyan international defender Haniff Wesonga who had been sidelined for a while due to a knee injury.

KCB will however miss the services of Goalkeeper Coach Samuel Koko and wingback Manzur Okwaro who have joined the U20 national side for the upcoming U20 AFCON contest in Cairo, Egypt.
