The National Super League (NSL) action on Saturday unfolded with a whirlwind of excitement as football enthusiasts across the country were treated to five riveting matches at various venues.

In the heart of Awendo, Mara Sugar showcased their dominance as they clashed with Vihiga Bullets in an early afternoon showdown that nearly witnessed the forfeiture of the match by the troubled Bullets, rumored to be up for sale.

It was Ruben Mita of Mara Sugar who wasted no time in making his mark on the match, slotting in a goal in the third minute. The relentless Yusuf Ochieng doubled the lead with a superb goal in the 20th minute, leaving Vihiga Bullets in a precarious position.

Mita was not done yet, as he netted his second goal in the 35th minute, while Philemon Nyakwakwa further compounded Bullets' misery with a goal just a minute later.

Vihiga Bullets, determined to salvage some pride, made strategic changes at the backline in the second half. Their defensive prowess held strong, but they could not escape the relentless Mara Sugar. Samuel Odaro added to the tally with the fifth goal in the 64th minute, sealing the fate of Vihiga Bullets.

With this emphatic victory, Mara Sugar stormed to the top of the NSL standings, boasting an impressive 13 points from just five matches. Meanwhile, Vihiga Bullets find themselves languishing in the 15th position on the table, with a meager four points to their name.

Over at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, the hosts Kisumu All Stars put on an exceptional display, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory against the spirited Kibera Black Stars.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Nelson Amunga opening the scoring in the 15th minute for Kisumu All Stars.

Black Stars, however, did not take the setback lightly and managed to level the score in the 46th minute, setting the stage for a tense battle.

The homeside emerged triumphant when Steve Brian netted the winning goal just three minutes after the hour mark. The Kisumu crowd erupted in joy as their team celebrated a well-deserved victory.
