The Kenyan midfielder returned to action for the first time in a month, while Tyler Onyango continues to wait for his second Premier League appearance this season.

Kenyan trio of Linton Maina, Tyler Onyango, and Zech Obiero started on the bench for FC Koln, Everton, and Leyton Orient respectively as they all lost their league fixtures on Saturday evening.

here is a recap of how each of the three young prospects faired.

Liton Maina

Mania came off the bench for Koln but could not help them avoid another defeat to Wolfsburg in their second Bundesliga match of the season.

Maina had started the season out injured after he had suffered a knock in the side’s pre-season tour of Austria.

Coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute, he really did not have time to influence the outcome of the match, which Koln lost 2-1 thanks to a Jonas Wind brace, but will hope another week of training will make him match-fit for their next Bundesliga fixture against Frankfurt.

Tyler Onyango

In England, Tyler Onyango started on the bench for Everton for their third Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers as they lost 1-0 to the Gary O’neil-coached side, extending their woeful start to the season of three straight losses.

A goal by Sasa Kaladzic in the 87th minute was enough to give them all the three points, leaving Everton languishing in the relegation places.

Zech Obiero

Another Kenyan, Zech Obiero made the bench but played no part in their 2-0 win over Cambridge United in their fifth League One match of the new season.

Obiero has made just one appearance for Leyton this season, a substitute appearance against Plymouth in the EFL Cup a fortnight ago.

Goals by Sharq Forde and Theo Achibald were enough to give Orient all the points, and it now means they are 18th and out of the relegation places.
