Talanta struggled to create numerous opportunities to score goals as they were reduced to 10 men during their opening 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards last week.

FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta believes his side have enough about them to create chances on a regular basis despite laboring to a 0-0 draw with AFC Leopards in the opening match of the 2023/2024 FKFPL season.

Talanta struggled to create chances from open play, only creating one clear cut chance in the 26th minute which hit the post, with the rest of the chances coming from poorly executed set piece situations.

The side had to revert to its defensive shape as soon as Lucas Weterere was dismissed for his challenge on Yasin Sije early in the second half, withstanding pressure and preventing Ingwe from finding the equalizer.

Speaking in his post match press conference, Kenyata believes his side were on top of the game and created good chances against the 13-time FKFPL champions.

“I got very few chances but in the first half, we were on top of the game,” Kenyatta said, “It is only in the second half when we were reduced to ten men that is when we could not make attempts in the opponents goal,” he added.

FC Talanta, who were recently fined Ksh. 420, 000 by the Football Kenya Federation’s CAF First Instance Board for failing to produce a women’s team for the new season, will face newly-promoted Shabana on Friday evening.

Kenyatta says his team are preparing on the ground to have a good match against Shabana, where he intends to grab a positive result.

“We are going to plan on the ground. For now, this is history, we are planning for the next game right.”

Kenyatta was in charge of the team as Talanta earned promotion to the FKFPL from the National Super League in the 2020/2021 season and has managed to keep his side afloat in the league over the last two years.
