Gor Mahia have parted ways with their Croatian tactician ahead of a crucial title race stretch.

FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia have officially parted ways with their head coach Sinisa Mihic, ending the Croatian's brief three-month tenure at the helm.

The club announced on Monday, May 19, that the departure was by mutual agreement, coming at a critical juncture in the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season.

In a statement released by the club, Gor Mahia confirmed that Mihic's two assistants will take over on an interim basis as the team pushes through the final stages of a tense title race.

Gor Mahia are currently locked in a fierce battle with Kenya Police and Tusker for the championship, making the coaching change all the more significant.

Writing on the Wall for Mihic

Reports had earlier hinted at unrest within Gor Mahia’s technical unit, with Mihic allegedly falling out with key members of his backroom staff, including assistant coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno and technical team members Victor Nyaoro and Michael Nam.

Tensions appeared to heighten following a string of disappointing results that saw the club lose ground to title rivals, further weakening Mihic’s position.

The writing seemed to be on the wall for Mihic, especially after a frustrating spell that mirrored the fate of his predecessor, Brazilian tactician Leonardo Neiva, who also exited after a short stint.

Otieno, who now steps in as interim coach alongside Nam, had similarly taken charge after Neiva's departure, and is once again tasked with steadying the ship during a crucial run-in.

While the club did not disclose the exact reasons behind the termination, it expressed appreciation for Mihic’s contributions during his short stay.

With only a few games left and the title race intensifying, Gor Mahia will be hoping that Otieno’s familiarity with the squad and experience can galvanize the team toward a strong finish and possibly reclaim the FKF Premier League crown.
