Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala's proposed move to Algerian club JS Sauora has collapsed, bringing a sad end to the month-long saga.

Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala's move to Algeria will not happen after all following a last-minute collapse of the transfer.

Omala had been given the go ahead to join Algerian club JS Sauora on a six-month loan deal but that will now not happen due to unavailability of foreign slots at the North African club.

It is believed the Algerian side turned their attention to another target (a Congolese forward) after Gor Mahia's clearance arrived late.

That means Omala will stay at K'Ogalo until the end of the season when a potential transfer would be mooted again.

It is a disappointing end to a saga that had seen the striker linked to another Algerian side USM Alger last month before JS Sauora firmed up the deal.

Gor Mahia were set to pocket Ksh3.2 million for the loan deal while Omala was to earn a monthly salary of Ksh1.3 million with an option of making the move permanent.

“The player will be entitled to the following by the club: house, personal car, medical insurance cover, match bonuses as per the standard club rates, and net salary of $8,000 per month,” read part of the deal offered to the striker.

However, JS Sauora had set tough conditions for the transfer which the player and his parent club needed to adhere to before it's completion.

"The player and the Gor Mahia Club undertake to suspend the employment contract binding them for the duration of the loan. JS Saoura will make payment of the loan compensation only after receipt of the TMS, and the player's physical and medical visits,” the deal further stated.

While it's disappointing for the player, Gor Mahia fans will be delighted that their talisman will be available, at least until the end of the season, to fire their team to another league title.

Omala is the leading scorer in the FKF Premier League with nine goals to his name so far.
