Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a major hint about potentially leaving Saudi club Al Nassr but where could the GOAT end up next?

Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo hinted at a possible exit from Al Nassr with a cryptic social media post on Monday.

Following Al Nassr’s 3-2 loss to Al Fateh in what was their final game of the season, Ronaldo’s social media post suggested he is ending his two-and-a-half year stay with the Saudi club with his contract set to expire in June.

“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” Ronaldo posted across his social media platforms.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the most expensive football contract in history, earning $200 million per year, and it is tough to see anyone else paying him this figure other than the cash-rich Saudi clubs.

There have been reports that Al Nassr are considering extending his contract by a further year and this could still happen while there are also claims that rivals Al-Hilal are weighing up the possibility.

Al-Hilal are due to feature at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and there is pressure to have Ronaldo at the tournament given his nemesis Lionel Messi will be there with Inter Miami and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could make it there through the Saudi giants.

Brazil

Cristiano Ronaldo could end up in Brazil.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been reported to be on the radar of the four Brazilian clubs that will feature at the Club World Cup and it has been fueled by sentiments made by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who claimed last week that there are talks with some clubs to have him at the tournament.

The four Brazilian clubs are Botafogo, Fluminense, Flamengo and Palmeiras and are all competing for Ronaldo’s signature and although none of them can pay him the big salary, the football-mad country could be an attraction for the 40-year-old beyond the Club World Cup.

Could Cristiano Ronaldo return to where it all started? Unconfirmed reports have claimed that Sporting CP, the club that shaped Ronaldo before he moved to Manchester United and became a superstar, could reunite with him.

Sporting are due to lose striker Viktor Gyokeres, who is wanted by nearly every team in Europe, and that could open up space for the 40-year-old academy graduate although how to finance the deal and the need for the club to maintain a young squad could be a stumbling block.

Cristiano Ronaldo has previously explained how he would want to end his career playing at the top level and not in America or China but now that his options are limited, the MLS could prove more attractive.

In the US, a number of clubs such as LA Galaxy, New York FC, Chicago Fire and even Messi’s Inter Miami could put together a deal that might entice the football GOAT.

Some of those teams might need to create room in their squads for that to happen as Ronaldo would be one of the Designated Players, whose pay will be above the league limit, but his popularity and pull with sponsors might compensate for that.

Turkey

Meanwhile, reports have also claimed that Galatasaray, who have just won a third successive Turkish league title, could come in for Cristiano Ronaldo with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen likely to depart after his hugely successful one-year loan deal.

Galatasaray have never been afraid to sign players considered ‘pensioners’ and the stars have done well at the Rams Park which could bode well for Ronaldo.

Whether they are ready to replace 26-year-old Osimhen with 40-year-old Ronaldo is another question altogether while the financial package involved could also be out of reach unless the star forward is willing to take a significant pay cut.
