The Harambee Stars players played a vital part for the two-time Armenian champions big win on Monday

Harambee Stars defender Amos Nondi and midfielder Alwyn Tera scored their first goals for Armenian Premier League side Ararat-Armenia as they beat BKMA 5-2 on Monday.

Nondi, who joined the club in January this year, opened the scoring in the 31st minute through a penalty, setting the stage for what ended up to be a seven-goal thriller.

Armenian defender Artem Avanesyan would score an own goal five minutes later to level the scores but another penalty for Ararat, this time converted by Nigerian forward Tenton Yenne, added to Hakob Hakobyan’s strike, saw the away side take a 3-1 lead at the break.

Kenyan midfielder Tera then took the game beyond BKMA with Ararat’s fourth, goal just two minutes after restart, and although Arayik Eloyan scored another for the home side, Gevorg Ghazaryan ensured there would be no comeback as he notched home the fifth goal 16 minutes from time.

Nondi and Tera have been a mainstay in the Ararat team this season as the two-time Armenian champions finished the campaign in third place and sealed a place in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Former Gor Mahia defender Nondi joined the club after being released by Georgia Premier League side Dila Gori in December 2022 and was unveiled in February, while Tera has been with the side since July 2021, having also signed from Georgian side Saburtalo Tbilisi.

The two were among a host of foreign-based players who were not included in coach Engin Firat’s Harambee Stars provisional squad for the Four Nations Tournament, scheduled to be held in Mauritius from June 11-18.
