Okoth was named man of the match for his dominating display against Sofapaka in the quater finals, with Police setting up a semis date against AFC Leopards.

Kenya Police forward David Okoth has expressed his hunger to clinch this season’s FKF Cup following his dominating display in the side’s 4-0 rout of Sofapaka last Saturday.

Okoth scored the first goal and assisted the goal, which earned him the man of the match award in the end, and they are now set to play AFC Leopards in the semi-finals, with a ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup up for grabs.

Okoth has heaped praise on the players’ efforts both individually and collectively as a reason for their win on Sunday.

“It is all about working hard as an individual then working as a team depending on how the coach wants us to play,” Okoth said after his dominating display to the press.

“His game plan worked to perfection.”

Police have invested alot to bring in seasoned players in order to help them achieve their target of being the premier club in the country, and winning the trophy will be one way to close the gap to Gor Mahia according to Okoth.

“We want to win this cup because our target is to get continental football and I am very optimistic that we are going to achieve that.

“If you look, we deserve it because if you look at our structure from the top to the bottom, you can see the hunger we have. Winning it would mean so much.”

Okoth has yet to earn a single cap for Harambee Stars, but is lucky to be working with experienced internationals, something he says has helped taken his game to the next level.

“As a player, it helps you grow because everyone is working hard to impress the coach. So you have to make sure you stand out and maintain high performance levels depending on the calibre of players you are playing with.”
