Amos Kipruto and Ruth Chepng'etich will be competing at the Bangsaen Half Marathon next month.

Former London Marathon Amos Kipruto and two-time Chicago Marathon champion Ruth Chepng’etich have been confirmed for the Bangsaen half marathon on December 17.

Kipruto headlines the men’s race and will be hoping to close his 2023 season with a bang. He did not have a good start to his season, having failed to finish the race at the London Marathon.

Going to the Berlin Marathon, Kipruto lined up as a pre-race favourite but ended up finishing seventh in the race that was won by Eliud Kipchoge.

His greatest threat in the race will be Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Getachew who is the only other male athlete confirmed for the event.

In the women’s race, Chepng’etich has had a mixed season and she will be keen end it on a positive note.

The National Cross-country champion successfully defended her Nagoya Women’s Marathon title earlier this year and went on to finish second at the Chicago Marathon.

She also finished third at the Istanbul Half Marathon and fourth at the 21K Buenos Aires Ñandú. Chepng’etich will be joined by compatriot Angela Tanui, the 2021 Amsterdam Marathon champion.

Ethiopia’s Degitu Azimeraw has also confirmed participation in the race and will be hoping to stun the Kenyan charge.
