The Noc-K elections has been dragged out following disputes and wrangles.

Kenya's National Assembly Departmental Committee on Sports has directed the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) to hold elections within 14 days.

The committee urged petitioners to withdraw ongoing court cases that have twice stalled the electoral process.

The latest postponement came on June 19, when the High Court in Eldoret halted the elections following a petition filed by Andrew Mudibo of the Kenya Table Tennis Association and three others.

Committee Chairman Dan Wanyama accused outgoing NOC-K officials of attempting to prolong their tenure through legal maneuvers.

The MPs instructed NOC-K to use the original list of candidates and delegates, rejecting an amended list compiled after the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) barred Mudibo from running for Secretary General.

The SDT ruled just hours before the scheduled June 19 election that Mudibo's nominating body, the KTTA, was not legally registered.

According to Citizen Digital, Wanyama stressed the need to end the legal battles, stating, “These disputes are hurting sports development in the country. Stop sending people to court on your behalf. No one from outside is interfering with this process. It's just you (current officials).”

He emphasized that all federations legally registered under the Sports Act 2013 must be allowed to vote.

Wanyama, also the Member of Parliament for Webuye West, urged candidates to respect the electoral process and warned against excluding registered federations from voting.

Committee member Jackson Kosgei accused both Team New Dawn, led by Shadrack Maluki, and Francis Mutuku’s Service Team of using the courts to delay the elections.

Maluki, the current first vice-president, is vying against outgoing Secretary General Mutuku to succeed Paul Tergat as president.

The elections were initially scheduled for April 23rd but were postponed due to disagreements within four federations—Kenya Triathlon Federation (KTF), Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF), Kenya Handball Federation (KHF), and Taekwondo Federation of Kenya (TFK)—regarding their designated voters.
