Speaking after his electrifying run, Thompson credited his renewed motivation to showdown against American rival Noah Lyles, who famously beat him in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“It really gave me a high boost of motivation to know that, hey, I'm as good as anyone out there that lines up against me,” Thompson shared.

That race was highly contested as Lyles edged Thompson by mere miliseconds with both clocking 9.79 while Fred Kerley settled for third at 9.81.

“We all want it, and it proves that it's going to take a lot more to get it. Yeah, so I'm really confident.”
