Kishane Thompson sails to yet another 100 meter win at the Prefontaine Diamond League Classic in Eugene, Oregon, flooring the likes of Trayvon Bromell and Christain Coleman.

Jamaican Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson sailed to an 100 meter win at the 2025 Prefontaine Diamond League classic to maintain his strong momentum on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Eugene, Oregon.

The 23-year old sailed to a 9.85 win, about -0.10 seconds short of his world-leading 9,75 seconds which he set at the Jamaican national trials in Kingston a week ago.

Britain’s Zharnel Hughes settled for second on 9.91 seconds, while the rejuvenated Trayvon Bromell had to settle for third on 9.95 seconds.

Fellow American Brandon Hicklin finished just outside the top three in 9.98 seconds, reinforcing the depth of U.S. sprinting talent.

The race also featured strong performances from Ackeem Blake of Jamaica and Bayanda Walaza of South Africa, who clocked 10.03 and 10.04 seconds, respectively.

Former world champion Christian Coleman had to settle for seventh despite equaling his season’s best of 10.06, while Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy followed with 10.07, and Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu closed the field in 10.20.

Thompson’s victory further consolidates his reputation as one of the sport’s brightest emerging stars, especially as the countdown begins to the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Paris. With back-to-back sub-9.90 runs, the Jamaican looks primed to lead a new era in men’s sprinting, carrying forward the legacy left by legends like Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.

In addition to the win, Thompson secured maximum Diamond League points and firmed his grip atop the sprint leaderboard, bolstering Jamaica’s hopes for global dominance this season.
